How Humans Judge Machines by César Hidalgo

César Hidalgo discusses his new book “How Humans Judge Machines”, in which he compares people’s reactions to actions performed by humans and machines. Using data collected in dozens of experiments, this book reveals the biases that permeate human-machine interactions.

Targeting Senescent Cells to Alleviate Aging: A Simple Task ?

At Ending Age-Related Diseases 2020, Prof. Judith Campisi of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging discussed the effects and usage of senolytics, drugs that remove senescent cells from the body. She went into the details of the stress and damage signals that cause cells to become senescent and the markers of senescent cells, noting that no marker is specific to senescence. She also discussed the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which causes other cells to become senescent.
